The Groove - Funky Bingo - Blurb from 7/15/26

THERE WAS MUSIC and good times last week at The Groove!  It was the week of the winner-dudes last Wednesday! Can the guys come up with a repeat?  Did Liberty or Andy win last week? Answer: No. Did the ladies go a week without major criticism and deadly stares? Answer: Not that I heard, but... Did I go a week without playing the wrong songs? Answer: Yes! Yaye me. The only way to know for sure is to BE THERE! Please take a moment to LIKE your photo on facebook  it only takes a minute to scroll through last week's upload of fun!  >>>and that is a CORRECTED LINK to this past week's photos<<< So, for a additional entry this week, draw an amusement ride on your second round Funky Bingo card! Remember to turn it in even if you don't get a Funky Bingo the natural way. See you and others this week at The Groove!

The Groove – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from July 1, 2026

The Groove – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from July 1, 2026 The air at The Groove was thick with the scent of barbecue, cold drafts, and the distinct hum of absolute musical focus. John kicked things off on the mic by making sure everyone knew the correct use of the Ink Daubers and golf pencils were. It is a vital public service announcement he graciously delivers nearly every single time, just in case anyone forgot how it works since last week. We slid smoothly into Round 1 with a patriotic "US of A" set, celebrating America's then-upcoming 250th anniversary celebration with a heavy focus on life in these United States. Lisa c showed her inner patriot by nailing one of the coveted Round 1 Funky Bingos. From there, the Winner's Wheel filled up fast as a trend started emerging: andy b, michele t, and shannon h apparently woke up with a deep, spiritual connection to the playlist, immediately landing themselves on the wheel and setting a frantic pace for the rest of t...

The Groove – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from June 24, 2026 The air at The Groove was thick with the scent of barbecue, cold drafts, and the distinct hum of absolute musical focus. John kicked things off on the mic by making sure everyone knew exactly what kind of marker, highlighter, or blunt instrument they needed to dab their cards. It is a vital public service announcement he graciously delivers nearly every single time, just in case anyone forgot how ink works since last week. We slid smoothly into Round 1 with Fonzie’s Jams, featuring artists starting with the letter "A"—cue the collective, involuntary "Aaaayyyyyyyy!" from the room. Denise s got the wheel spinning early by nailing the very first Bingo of the night. From there, the Winner's Wheel filled up fast as a trend started emerging: spergron, shannon h, and marc t apparently woke up with a deep, spiritual connection to the playlist, immediately landing themselves on the wheel and setting a franti...

Yes, we had another fantastic fun time, albeit with a rather quaint gathering. The "every-other-week=there's-a-big-crowd" thing is nice, but we all prefer the EVERY WEEK THERE'S A BIG CROWD! Call it what you will... I call it job security.  So, for this week's SECOND ROUND Art Bonus, draw something that locks. Last week, we did Flying High, 1970's Part 4, Time to Sing, and an extra long round of 2000's Pop-N-Rock. The folks whose name was drawn on our big wheel of fun were: Not all of those people were present at the drawing to accept a prize.  Were you? Was I? And who was that mystery blonde?

THE GROOVE • PLAY THAT FUNKY BINGO • blurb from 6/3/26 (so hush-up, Brittanie)

THE GROOVE • PLAY THAT FUNKY BINGO • blurb from 6/3/26 We had a powerhouse room tonight— 47 active dabber-wielding players completely locked in, with another 17 non-playing patrons soaking up the secondary contact high of pure musical chaos. The energy was electric before the first card was even stamped. πŸ“œ The Round-by-Round Breakdown Round 1: Class of 1979 We kicked things off by throwing it back to the pre-MTV era, where late-70s Billboard anthems ruled the world. The room went to absolute work. The room  came out swinging, singing, and eating the fine offerings right out of the gate. We all know how much Jess the angry Librarian  LOVES the 70's! Round 2: Unplugged We stripped things down for an acoustic, emotional journey. This is usually where everyone tries—and fails—to hit the high notes together. The momentum didn't slow down for a second. Multi-round achievers started stacking their odds early, with Shannon H, Candace P, Victoria B, and Tim O Thee making the...

The Groove – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from April 22, 2026

Round 1 drifted in on that warm (?) 🌬️ 1960s breeze, the kind that makes the whole room loosen up before the first number even hits the mic. “Hard To Handle” strutted through the speakers, “Let’s Twist Again” reminded everyone that muscle memory is a myth, and “Surf City” briefly convinced two tables they were harmonizing. They were not. But they believed, and that’s what matters. A whole crew of Funky Bingo achievers popped up during the round, earning their names a fresh spot on the Winner’s Wheel for the end‑of‑night money πŸ’΅ spin. Brittanie spent the evening in a state of personal triumph, loudly and proudly confirming that her last name does indeed begin with "S." Her husband, who never comes to Funky Bingo but apparently enjoys the ongoing saga from afar, will be tickled to hear. Vickie, meanwhile, gave me a lecture about missing last week. This would have landed harder if she had actually been here last week, but she wasn’t. She only heard about it from the blurb, whi...

THE GROOVE • PLAY THAT FUNKY BINGO • 4/8/26

THE GROOVE • PLAY THAT FUNKY BINGO • blurb from 4/8/26 (31.9% off entrΓ©es for seated guests because The Groove believes in feeding both your soul and your dabber hand.) The Groove came in tonight, buzzing before the speakers even warmed up, and I walked in feeling like a responsible adult who had everything under control, up until several of my "good friends" started chanting "late! late! late!"  But then, what are friends for, right? We started with April Fools (and the joke being on me, of course).  Classic Rock Part 4  rolled in with the confidence of a denim jacket that’s seen some things, things Brittanie S, er Brittanie T, er... S ... maybe T... claims to have never seen. 80’s Part 2 followed, neon‑bright and unapologetic, and by the time we hit 00’s Pop Hits , the room was fully committed — singing, dancing, and dabbing like the early 2000s had personally asked them to represent.  Then I made the kind of mistake that gets whispered about in host fol...

The Groove – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from 4/1/26

The Groove – Play That Funky Bingo – Blurb from 4/1/26 It was one of those lighter nights at The Groove where the room felt a little more spacious but somehow louder, like everyone collectively decided to compensate for the missing bodies with extra personality. We landed at 43 players , which is still more than enough humans to create a small, well‑organized uprising if they ever coordinated, but thankfully they were all focused on bingo instead of revolution. A table of four younger players settled in right near me, which meant they were unintentionally seated in the direct blast radius of my humor . They handled it well, they laughed, they played, and they didn’t ask to be moved farther away, which I consider a personal victory. Just beyond them was a brand‑new table of players from a  more experienced age range , and they were absolutely buzzing. Pat , in particular, had the kind of energy that makes you wonder if she’s secretly plugged into the building’s electrical s...
